Yoël Diaz
Cuban-born Yoel Diaz is a brilliant pianist whose rich and colorful heritage shines through his music and his playing. A graduate of L’École Supérieure in Havana, he played with several orchestras and Latin jazz groups in Cuba and Canada. His album Te llegό established him as an indisputable prodigy.

 

Along with double bassist Alex Bellegarde, he won the 2005 General Motors Grand Jazz Award at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. A multidisciplinary player/composer with a broad imagination, Alex also collaborates with poets, visual artists and actors. 

 

Their compositions, infused with a rich, modern jazz sound, are intricately woven with non conventional forms, grooves, Cuban rhythms and collective improvisation. Con mucho placer.
